Accepting these terms

By using Captain Cal or creating an account, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 18 years old.

What Captain Cal provides

Captain Cal is a tool for estimating calories and macros and tracking meals, weight and progress. It can analyze photos, text, nutrition labels and barcodes, then show a result for you to review before saving.

Not medical advice

Captain Cal does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or professional medical or dietetic advice. Estimates can be wrong, especially for meal photos and foods with hidden ingredients. Do not rely on the service for a medical decision or to manage a health condition. Consult a qualified professional when appropriate.

Your account

• Provide accurate information and keep it updated.
• Keep sign-in details secure and tell us if you suspect unauthorized access.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You can delete your account in Settings. Account deletion does not automatically cancel a store subscription.

Subscriptions and payment

Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and are also subject to the store’s terms. A new account receives 24 hours of free access from profile creation. After that, camera and text logging require an active subscription.

The price, billing period and any introductory trial are shown before purchase confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in store settings before renewal. Apple or Google administer cancellations and refunds under their policies.

Content you submit

You keep your rights in photos and text you submit. You grant us a limited license to process, store and display that content as needed to provide, operate and improve the service. You are responsible for having the right to submit it.

Acceptable use

• Do not disrupt the service, bypass usage limits or access another person’s account.
• Do not submit unlawful or harmful content or content that infringes another person’s rights.
• Do not use the service to build a competing product, scrape data automatically, or resell access.

Captain Cal ownership

We own Captain Cal’s brand, design, software and original content. These Terms give you a limited, personal, revocable right to use the app; they do not transfer ownership.

Third-party services

Some functions depend on third parties such as app stores, RevenueCat, AI providers and Open Food Facts. Their own terms and policies may apply. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for their outages or content outside our control.

Availability and termination

We may change the service or stop offering part of it. We may suspend access for misuse or a breach of these Terms. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.

Disclaimers and limits

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that estimates are accurate or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or loss of data or profit. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the six months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Law, changes and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without limiting any mandatory consumer protection that applies to you. We may update the Terms and will post the new version here.
